Deciding to you should buy A true New England antique or a reproduction can be a daunting question, but keeping a few things in mind should help you decide.
If you want to use the piece, remember that many antiques are fragile or scaled down. Furniture reproductions of today are scaled for our taller heights.
Many antiques will hold value or increase. Few reproductions, unless made by a well known skilled craftsman will grow in value.
Fragile or rare antiques deserve respect, but they can be used in everyday New England style decorating. Just make sure to place them in lower traffic areas or places where they will be appreciated more so visually than functionally. But!... Some antiques stand up to use and abuse, so go for it and enjoy it!. It all depends on your own particular lifestyle and purpose of purchase.and how you want to decorate like a New Englander.
