A Dirty Martini Video
Flirty, sexy, and whimsical martini recipes
Even before Sex and the City I was drinking martinis. Maybe not cosmopolitans, but other fruity concoctions.  I remember going to a party that was being held for event planners and I had my first "Bellini Martini".  I was in heaven!  The peach flavor of this drink was just the right drink at a summer event.   I tried to recreate the  thirst quenching concoction at my own home, but never got it quite right since I was going on memory.

Years ago, I was sent a book to review called 101 Martinis by Kim Haasarud, and I was thrilled to take on the assignment.  The book has mouth watering full color photos, yet the book is small enough to keep at your bar on on a shelf nearby.  Another aspect of the book that I really appreciated was the small, color coded icons at the corner of each martini recipe.  This will help you select an appetizer or meal that will accentuate the drink and its ingredients.

I am now moving into my own uncharted territory of dry martinis and dirty martinis.  Once again, making them on my own has been a challenge.  I find that the old school bartender makes the dry martini with vermouth and the new school bartenders make the dry without vermouth (I like mine with).

Bellini Martini

"A great martini for brunches and bridal showers"

1 OUNCE WHITE PEACH PUREE (SEE NOTE)
1/2 OUNCE VODKA
1/2 OUNCE PEACH SCHNAPPS
2 TO 3 OUNCES CHAMPAGNE OR SPARKLING WINE
SPLASH OF LEMON JUICE
PEACH SLICE, FOR GARNISH

Combine the peach puree, vodka, and peach schnapps in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake moderately.  Add the champagne and stir gently-do not shake.  Strain into a chilled martini glass.

NOTE: To make fresh with peach puree, blend together the flesh of 2 ripe, peeled peaches with about 3/4 ounce simple syrup.  You may want to add more simple syrup if the peaches are not very ripe if you prefer a sweeter martini.

White Cosmopolitan

2 OUNCES WHITE CRANBERRY JUICE
1 1/2 OUNCES CITRUS VODKA
1 OUNCE COINTREAU
1/2 OUNCE LIME JUICE
ORANGE TWIST FOR GARNISH

Combine the cranberry juice, vodka, Cointreau, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
